I am interested in hearing what people think about MLM (multi-level marketing). I have tried being an IBO (independent business owner) a few years ago and I have been approached by several people (usually friends) over the years to try various companies.
More recently though I have noticed a huge increase in this style of business. Perhaps it's the economy driving people to try something different. Whatever the case is I would like to know what people think about it. Is the average person aware of what MLM is and how these companies operate? Some examples of these company's are Quixtar (formally Amway), Primerica, Tupperware, Avon, Mary Kay and probably 100's of others but these are more well known (in my opinion).
Please let me know your thoughts. Are you for or against it and why; or maybe you've never heard of it.

Lilli's Negative Experience
I am a mother of three beautiful daughters. They are all unique and I love them all equally. BUT my youngest Lillianna seems to be a little spoiled. She demands all of my attention, screams when she doesn't get her own way and all the while batting her cute blue eyes and giving me a smile that makes me melt. She is in constant need of hugging and kissing and she is always telling me she loves me.
Well, Lillianna will be starting Junior Kindergarten in September so I took her with me to the school the other day to pick up a registration package and put her name on the list. This was exciting for her because she is looking forward to going to school just like her big sister's. I guess I was suppose to do this in January but I still haven't figured out how I was suppose to know that.
So by the time we got to the school my Lilli was a little over tired and hadn't had an afternoon nap, therefore she was being a little silly in the office. Now most places we go if she acts up a little people laugh at her and comment on how sweet she is but I guess the school office is not very tolerant of such behaviour. Certain "higher ups" in the school office felt the need to give her a couple of "talking to's" on a level fit more for a grade 3 student not a 3 year old student. I was shocked. I mean never mind the fact that I believe that if the parent is there then the parent should be responsible to give their child a "talking to." Lilli was treated very rudely, as if she was a repeat offender that had been sent to the office for some hannis act.
I am a person who has always appreciated strict teachers and I am not against discipline but this first time experience for my sweet little Lilli is surely not going to make the first day of school any easier. Trying to explain to her that school is a fun, safe place for learning is like trying to tell her it's safe to go into the lion's den.
To top it off the "higher ups" explained to me that she recommends the half day program instead of the full day/half week program because for a child "like mine" who is "rambunctious" it was designed. Okay so she certainly had Lilli pegged after only knowing her 3 or 4 minutes. All I could do was just take my package and run before I ended up in detention.
My eldest daughter explained to me later that this one "higher up" office lady was not to be crossed. She said she is very mean and all the kids hate her. She also explained that the others in the office are very nice. As parents do we tolerate these "power tripping" individuals in the school system? I want my kids to love school not hate it.

Trying Something New
Tonight, after reading Michael Hyatt's blog I have been inspired to start one of my own. With my busy schedule I hope I find the time to remain loyal to it.
